Resources

It is oftentimes helpful in the coaching process to do some self-assessments or 360-degree assemssments. I will sometimes recommend one of these tools, include the refelctions on the results in a coaching session, and help the client with a personal devlopment plan based on the results and the coaching.

Leadership Practices Inventory

We may decide to include the Leadership Practices Inventory in your coaching program--either the Self-Report or also the 360-degree version with feedback from lay leaderss and staff.

The LPI is a questionnaire with thirty behavioral statements—six for each of The Five Practices—that takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete. Leaders complete the LPI-Self, rating themselves on the frequency with which they think they engage in each of the thirty behaviors. Five to ten other people—typically selected by the leaders—complete the LPI-Observer questionnaire, rating the leaders on the frequency with which they think they engage in each behavior.

Conflict Dynamics Profile

I am certified to adminster the Conflict Dynamics Profile. Let me know if you would like to include this in your coaching program.

The Conflict Dynamics Profile, an assessment instrument dealing with conflict behaviors in the organzation/congregation, provides a powerful way to improve self-awareness of what triggers conflict in individuals as well as how they respond to conflict. Based on these triggers and responses, the Conflict Dynamics Profile then provides practical approaches for improving behaviors that promote more effective conflict resolution and interactions.

The Leadershp Circle Profile

I am one of the certified Leadership Cirlce Profile facilitators and use this with some of my clients, particularly if they want to look at their own leadership holistically and are open to receiving feedback from others in their organization and life. The Leadership Circle Profile is the only instrument that measures the two primary leadership domains – Creative Competencies and Reactive Tendencies – and integrates this information so that key opportunities for leadership development immediately rise to the surface. Administered and debriefed by a Certified Practitioner who specializes in your industry and organizational needs, the Leadership Circle Profile assessment and debrief process is specifically tailored to every individual’s development.

Career Anchors

The Career Anchors Self-Assessment, developed by MIT Professor Edgar Schein, has been the industry standard for more than 40 years. This research-backed program enables participants to identify their Career Anchors: perceived areas of competence, motives and values related to work choices.

“Through coaching, Larry Peers guided my thoughts and understanding from confusion to clarity. At the end, it was not his point of view that I could see clearly, but my own.” — A clergy coaching client

“I’ve been facilitating groups and providing executive coaching services for many years (I stopped counting when I hit the twenty-year mark), and I’ve worked with many, many facilitators. Larry is among the best I have seen . . . Thank you for sending this talented man our way! It has been a joy to get to know and work with Larry.” —Karen J. Curnow, MCC Principal, Compass International and Program Manager, The Newfield Network, Inc.

“Larry’s coaching has never been just about management: it has been about helping me to summon my spiritual resources and to ground my authority.” —an Episcopal Priest

“Larry is engaging, personable, authentic, funny/witty and a great communicator. He is visionary and brilliant strategist, able to see patterns and opportunities in organizations and address them. He is not shy, and can get at the point and the heart of the matter with pinpoint accuracy. He is equally adept on a personal, one to one level. He is an excellent coach, and brings his heart to relationships. When I am with him, I feel I am experiencing an expanded worldview. He is inspirational, creative, strategic and practical.” -a colleague

“At first I was unsure about coaching over the phone as I had little experience with it. I found that Larry was able to listen carefully in a way that accurately identified not just what I was saying but the feelings I was portraying as I spoke. Thanks for helping me find the things inside of me that yearned for this new ministry. The outcome for me, couldn’t have been better, and for that I am grateful.” —A clergy coaching client

"Working with Larry has been one of the most important investments I’ve ever made. His deep listening, compassion and wisdom helped me develop as a leade, partner, father and friend." -A client

“I have been a congregational rabbi for over 18 years. Larry Peers in particular has a wealth of knowledge and experience with congregations of all kinds and has a real sense of Jewish life and teachings in particular. I was constantly amazed at his comfort with Jewish traditions and the vocabulary of Jewish life. I trusted his advice completely and have often shared it with my congregation who in turn were very appreciative.” — A rabbi clergy coaching client
